The ship is the most popular Nijigasaki relationship tag on Ao3. This ship sailed due to the girls being such close friends, and the childhood friends trope being so popular. Ayumu and Yuu respect and admire each other a lot, often complimenting the other. When picking out a gift for Yuu with Shioriko Mifune, Ayumu says that she adores her and wants to thank her for all she does for the idol club. Ayumu also shows signs of jealousy in the game, though not as much as in the anime. In the story, Yuu invites Ayumu to be a school idol since she admires her. The player can enter their own name into the game, but her name has been revealed to be Yuu Takasaki.
In the All Stars story, the player is close childhood friends with Ayumu. The girls hug and go home, holding hands, and Ayumu sings another song paralleling Dream with You, called Awakening Promise. In the episode after, both girls apologize and Yuu gives Ayumu a flower representing feelings that never change. Ayumu asks if Setsuna is more important to Yuu than her, and she quickly says no. Ayumu gets very jealous, and in the next episode the girls have a conversation about it. This is heightened in episodes 10-11, when Ayumu sees Setsuna Yuki trip fall onto Yuu, and she thinks they are hugging. Throughout the season, Ayumu is seen getting jealous of other girls when Yuu focuses her attention on them. Ayumu performs “Dream with You” to Yuu on the stairs of their apartment complex. After seeing a performance by Setsuna Yuki, both girls are entranced by school idols and decide to join the club with Ayumu as an idol and Yuu as a supporter. It is shown that Yuu wakes up every morning by a call from Ayumu. They are incredibly close, walking to and from school together every day and going shopping after school often. Yuu and Ayumu are childhood friends and neighbors.
